RAMALLAH, WEST BANK - Violence erupted overnight in several parts of the occupied West Bank as groups of Israeli settlers carried out coordinated attacks on Palestinian towns and villages, according to local officials and eyewitnesses. The raids reportedly left multiple Palestinians injured and widespread property damage in their wake.

Palestinian residents described settlers arriving under the protection of Israeli forces near Nablus, Hebron, and Ramallah. Homes, cars, and olive groves were set ablaze, and several residents were beaten during the incursions. The Palestinian Red Crescent reported treating dozens of people for injuries caused by stones, tear gas, and live ammunition.

Israeli security officials confirmed that “disturbances” had taken place but said they were investigating the circumstances surrounding the incidents. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government has faced growing international criticism for its handling of settler violence, which has sharply increased in recent months amid larger unrest in the region.

The United Nations and several human rights groups condemned the attacks, calling on Israeli authorities to “prevent further escalation” and protect Palestinian civilians. UN Middle East envoy Tor Wennesland urged restraint, warning that unchecked violence could “push the region toward a dangerous new phase.”

In the wake of the assault, Palestinian communities have declared a general strike and called for international protection, while Israeli opposition leaders urged the government to rein in extremist settler groups and enforce the rule of law.
