- Motor
City is
revving
its
engines
as final
preparations
wrap up
for the
31st
Annual
Woodward
Dream
Cruise,
kicking
off in
full
force on
Saturday,
August
15,
2026. As
the
world’s
largest
one-day
automotive
event,
the
Dream
Cruise
is set
to
transform
16 miles
of
historic
Woodward
Avenue
into a
rolling
museum,
drawing
an
estimated
1
million
spectators
and more
than
40,000
classic,
custom,
muscle,
and
special-interest
vehicles.
Running
from
9:00
a.m. to
9:00
p.m. on
Saturday,
the main
cruise
spans
nine
participating
Oakland
County
communities:
Ferndale,
Pleasant
Ridge,
Huntington
Woods,
Royal
Oak,
Berkley,
Birmingham,
Bloomfield
Hills,
Bloomfield
Township,
and
Pontiac.
While
the
signature
bumper-to-bumper
parade
takes
over
Woodward
Avenue
on
Saturday,
community
events
throughout
the
corridor
are
already
underway.
Ferndale
is
hosting
the
classic
Lights
and
Sirens
Cruise
Parade,
Mustang
Alley,
live
music,
and
vendor
zones
along
Nine
Mile
Road.
Berkley
held its
popular
CruiseFest
Classic
Car
Parade
along
West 12
Mile
Road,
featuring
neighborhood
vintage
displays.
Royal
Oak is
setting
up major
manufacturer
exhibits,
performance
displays,
and
vendor
hubs
centered
near
Memorial
Park at
13 Mile
Road.
Birmingham
is
offering
open-air
classic
car
displays
and
shaded
viewing
areas
along
South
Old
Woodward.
Pontiac
is
serving
as the
northern
anchor
and
turnaround
point,
featuring
live
musical
performances
and a
municipal
Kids
Zone.
Local
public
safety
agencies
advise
visitors
and
commuters
to
prepare
for
heavy
traffic
and
local
street
closures.
Burnouts,
unapproved
lane
closures,
and open
alcohol
outside
licensed
zones
are
strictly
prohibited
by local
ordinances.
Lawn
chairs
and
blankets
are
permitted
on
median
strips,
but
tents,
grills,
and
commercial
trailers
over
10,000
lbs are
banned
along
the
route.
To ease
traffic
congestion,
SMART is
providing
a free
shuttle
service
on
Saturday
along
Woodward
Avenue
between
Ferndale
and
Downtown
Pontiac,
stopping
at
designated
red
SMART
and FAST
bus
stops.
For
those
unable
to
attend
in
person,
local
broadcast
partner
WXYZ-TV
Channel
7 will
air a
live
primetime
event
special
from
7:00
p.m. to
9:00
p.m.,
with
national
syndication
reaching
over 200
markets
across
the
country.
