Children’s
Hospital
of
Michigan
has
announced
the
appointments
of
Madhvi
Rajpurkar,
MD, and
Jeffrey
Taub,
MD, as
new
division
chiefs
for the
oldest
and
largest
pediatric
hematology
and
oncology
program
in the
state.
As
division
chief of
hematology,
Rajpurkar
will be
responsible
for
overseeing
comprehensive
care and
clinical
research
in the
diagnosis,
treatment,
and
prognosis
of
pediatric
blood
diseases
and
bleeding
disorders.
As
division
chief of
oncology,
Taub
will
oversee
comprehensive
care and
clinical
research
in the
diagnosis,
treatment
and
prognosis
of
childhood
cancers.
Rajpurkar
and Taub
replace
former
Hematology/Oncology
Co-Directors
Jeanne
Lusher,
MD, and
Yaddanapudi
Ravindranath,
MD, who
according
to
Bonita
Stanton,
MD,
pediatrician
in
chief,
Carman
and Ann
Adams
Department
of
Pediatrics,
Children’s
Hospital
of
Michigan,
"have
capably
served
the
Division
of
Hematology
and
Oncology
for a
combined
56
years.
Doctors
Lusher
and
Ravindranath,
who are
both
endowed
professors
at Wayne
Statue
University
and have
been
elected
to the
university’s
Academy
of
Scholars,
have
overseen
the
division’s
extraordinary
growth
and have
brought
these
programs
to
national
prominence.
Thankfully,
they
will
remain
here at
Children’s
while
turning
their
attentions
to new
endeavors."
An
international
and
nationally
respected
medical
practitioner,
for 21
years
Rajpurkar
has been
dedicated
to the
care of
pediatric
patients
and is
currently
the
director
of the
Pediatric
Thrombosis
Program
at the
Children’s
Hospital
of
Michigan.
Rajpurkar
received
her
medical
degree
from the
University
of
Bombay
in
Bombay,
India.
She
completed
her
pediatric
residency
and
completed
a
fellowship
in
pediatric
hematology/oncology
at the
Children’s
Hospital
of
Michigan.
Rajpurkar
holds
several
professional
memberships,
licensures
and
board
certifications,
has
edited
numerous
professional
journals
and
publications,
serves
on
several
national
and
international
boards
and
committees
and has
received
countless
honors
and
awards.
Also an
international
and
nationally
respected
medical
practitioner,
for
nearly
25 years
Taub has
been
dedicated
to
improving
care and
outcomes
for
patients.
The
Windsor
native
is a
childhood
cancer
survivor
himself.
He
currently
serves
as
Children’s
Hospital
of
Michigan
director
of the
Pediatric
Hematology/Oncology
Fellowship
Program.
He is
also an
endowed
professor
at Wayne
State
University
School
of
Medicine
and has
been

to the
university’s
Academy
of
Scholars.
Taub
received
his
medical
degree
from the
University
of
Western
Ontario
in
London,
Ontario,
Canada.
He
completed
his
pediatric
residency
and a
fellowship
in
pediatric
hematology/oncology
at the
Children’s
Hospital

Michigan.
Taub
holds
several
professional
memberships,

has
