‘Detroit Uncorked’ to Benefit Gleaners on Friday, Oct. 5

Detroit Wine Organization presents premier wine tasting

DETROIT – The 14th annual Detroit Uncorked premier wine tasting event to benefit Gleaners Community Food Bank is returning to delight wine lovers in the greater Detroit area on Friday, Oct. 5, 2018, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Presented by the Detroit Wine Organization and Kroger, Detroit Uncorked is one of Southeast Michigan's largest wine tasting events. The evening is hosted at Gleaners’ Main Headquarters at 2131 Beaufait in Detroit.

Detroit Uncorked will feature more than 300 world-class wines from around the world – including Michigan, California, the Pacific Northwest and international wineries – as well as craft cocktails and microbrew beers. Food tastings from more than 20 local restaurants will complement the wines. During the evening, the Detroit Wine Organization will present its “Winery of the Year” Award to Piattelli Vineyards, and special tastings of Piattelli Vineyards’ wines will be available.

Detroit Uncorked will also feature a silent auction including a variety of wines, luxury, experiential and one of a kind items. There will be entertainment, a fabulous “Wine Wall” where everyone can be a winner and more.

Tickets can be purchased at DetroitWine.org. General admission tickets are $100 each. New this year, guests can take advantage of group pricing for groups of six to bring family and friends at a lower per-person price. Those who cannot attend can still donate to support Gleaners’ food programs.

Each dollar donated to Gleaners provides three meals to hungry neighbors. Annually, Gleaners reaches 430,000 food insecure individuals with nearly 43 million pounds of nutritious food, equivalent to more than 35 million meals, through nearly 500 partner schools, soup kitchens, shelters and pantries in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston and Monroe counties.

For more information about the evening, sponsorship opportunities or ticket inquiries, visit DetroitWine.org, call 248-504-1962 or email info@detroitwine.org. Additional sponsorship support is provided by Delta Air Lines.
