DETROIT (Tell Us Det) - The iconic Blue Doors will be appearing again this year for the “I’m In” campaign to get all Detroit Public School students back in the classroom. The 2010-2011 enrollment campaign was rolled out Monday morning on the grounds of Bunche public school on the city’s eastside.

Emergency Financial Manager Robert Bobb unveiled a newly refurbished mobile enrollment vehicle that will criss-cross the city neighborhoods and adjunct suburbs to promote new initiatives that parents and students will see in DPS this fall.

Bobb said “We will take our campaign straight to those corners near charters and suburban school bus stops because we know DPS offers the best educational option for those children.

The mobile enrollment van will travel to parks, festivals, and city wide events on week days and weekends. People can request the mobile enrollment for their events by sending an e-mail to: communications@detroitk12.org.

This year’s campaign also includes a Parade and Rally with Dr. Bill Cosby, is returning for a third time to DPS, this time as the Parade Grand Marshall on Thursday, August 26th at noon. The parade will follow a route down Woodward and end at the Hart Plaza Amphitheater.

The goal is to exceed the enrollment target of 77,314 students. School funding is a key part of enrollment; last year the district exceeded enrollment by 830 students which produced a $6.2 million school budget.

The inaugural “I’m In” campaign won a national advertising award for the effectiveness in terms of impact and cost for similar initiatives; the award was presented Monday to Robert Bobb by Don Peasley of Leo Burnett ad agency.
