Timothy
R.
Slater
as the
new
Assistant
Director
in
Charge
of the
Washington
Field
Office.
Mr.
Slater
most
recently
served
as the
Special
Agent in
Charge
of the
Detroit
Field
Office.
Mr.
Slater
started
his FBI
career
as a
Special
Agent in
1999 and
was
assigned
to the
Violent
Crimes
Task
Force in
Detroit.
He moved
to
Detroit’s
Resident
Agency—or
satellite
office—in
Flint in
2003,
then to
Florida’s
Palm
Beach
Resident
Agency
in 2006.
In
2007,
Mr.
Slater
was
promoted
to
Supervisory
Special
Agent in
the
Criminal
Investigative
Division
at FBI
Headquarters.
He moved
to
Oklahoma
in 2008,
supervising
four
Resident
Agencies
in the
eastern
area of
the
State.
In
2010,
Mr.
Slater
served
as a
Unit
Chief in
the
Critical
Incident
Response
Group
(CIRG),
which
coordinates
and
manages
the
FBI’s
tactical,
negotiations,
behavioral
analysis,
surveillance/aviation,
Strategic
Information
and
Operations
Center
(SIOC)
and
crisis
management
resources.
He
served
as an
Assistant
Special
Agent in
Charge
of the
Knoxville
Field
Office
in 2013,
before
returning
to CIRG
- first
as a
Section
Chief in
2014 and
then as
a Deputy
Assistant
Director
in 2015.
Mr.
Slater
briefly
served
as the
Special
Agent in
Charge
of the
Denver
Field
Office
in 2016,
before
being
named as
the
Special
Agent in
Charge
of the
Criminal/Cyber
Division
at the
Washington
Field
Office
later
the same
year. In
2018, he
was
named
the
Special
Agent in
Charge
of the
Detroit
office.
The
Washington
Field
Office
is one
of three
FBI
field
offices
led by
an
Assistant
Director
in
Charge.
The
office
covers
Washington
and much
of
Northern
Virginia.
