  CAYMC’s Larned Street entrance reopens to the public with major improvements

DETROIT - Friday, January 10 THE Detroit-Wayne Joint Building Authority Commission Chair Sharon Madison, Mayor Mike Duggan, and Wayne County Court Chief Probate Judge Freddie Burton, Jr. reopened the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center's new and improved entrance.

The improvements create a much-needed pedestrian-friendly plaza. The project contributes to the preservation of this important public asset with improved security.

Features of the new Larned Plaza include:
o A circular driveway to accommodate vehicle drop-off and pick-up to better serve the public and employees and expedite EMS access
o Expanded ADA compliant ramp access along the north side and to the Larned entrance from the circular drive
o A bike plaza with 17 bike loops and pedestrian seating
o Landscaping enhancements and protective bollards
o Enhanced LED lighting in the canopy

• The Coleman A. Young Municipal Center is owned and managed by the Detroit-Wayne Joint Building Authority
• The Center houses 47 elected officials, 1,600 City and County employees and accommodates approximately 5,000 daily visitors
• These improvements total $4 million and are funded by both the City of Detroit and the County of Wayne
