2018 Detroit Campus Martius Tree Lighting and Light up Beacon Park on Nov. 16

Featuring 12-time GRAMMY award-winning gospel singer and Detroit-native CeCe Winans, Olympic skating duo Maia and Alex Shibutani, plus local skating groups, choirs and more

DETROIT - The Downtown Detroit Partnership (DDP) and DTE Energy Foundation today announced the lineup for the 15th Annual Detroit Tree Lighting Ceremony at Campus Martius Park and Light Up Beacon Park on November 16.

Headlining Detroit’s most highly anticipated holiday celebration is 12-time GRAMMY award-winner CeCe Winans, plus Olympic skating duo Alex and Maia Shibutani. Also taking center stage is a 60-foot, Plymouth-grown Norway spruce featuring 19,000 multi-colored lights and ornaments.

“In celebration of Detroit’s rich musical history, this year’s lineup offers everything from an award-winning high school choir to a Detroit-native gospel icon,” said Robert Gregory, Chief Planning and Public Spaces Officer, DDP. “Now in its 15th year at Campus Martius Park, the Tree Lighting Ceremony attracts thousands of residents and visitors who join together to mark the beginning of this magical holiday season in Detroit.”

For the second year in a row, Light Up Beacon Park will offer live streaming of the tree lighting and performances by Joe Hertler & The Rainbow Seekers and Nadir Omowale inside the heated Winter Lodge tent. Additionally, free shuttles will run between Campus Martius Park and Beacon Park from 4:30 p.m. to midnight so visitors can create lasting memories in two of the city’s most revered public spaces. New this year is Prismatica, an interactive and internationally travelling art exhibit, and custom-designed holiday lighting that transforms the park into a winter wonderland. Visit DTEBeaconPark.com for a full list of activities hosted at Beacon Park.

“The Tree Lighting Ceremony is one of our favorite Detroit traditions as it brings together families and the community to kick off the holiday season,” said Lynette Dowler, President, DTE Energy Foundation. “Light Up Beacon Park extends the festivities throughout downtown and offers an additional venue for family fun – from light displays to Selfies with Santa – making the night special for everyone.”

The 15th Annual Detroit Tree Lighting Ceremony and Light Up Beacon Park are made possible by the support of DTE Energy Foundation and DTE Energy Beacon Park Foundation.

The annual Tree Lighting Ceremony and Light Up Beacon Park will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018 from 5 p.m. to midnight and is free and open to the public.
