Tell Us
Detroit
DETROIT
-
Democratic
Municipal
Officials
is the
preeminent
national
organization
for
mayors
and city
council
members
who
subscribe
to the
values
of the
Democratic
Party.
Douglass
J.
Diggs,
CEO of
The
Diggs
Group
Heritage
in
Detroit
recently
joined
the
group’s
Business
Council.
“City
leaders
are
working
hard
every
day to
bring
quality
economic
development
to their
communities,
and they
appreciate
opportunities
to
interface
with
business
leaders
who are
investing
where
they
live,”
said
Barbara
Moore,
Executive
Director
of DMO.
“We
are
honored
to have
the
support
of The
Diggs
Group,
and we
welcome
Douglass
Diggs to
the
Business
Council
of our
National
Advisory
Board.
Our
Advisory
Board
members
help us
chart
the
future
of our
organization
and
provide
the
financial
support
necessary
to
expand
our
work.”
“I
am
excited
to work
in
collaboration
with the
DMO, “
said
Diggs.
“We are
at a
critical
time in
our
history
and the
more we
work
together
to
accomplish
our
goals,
the more
successful
we will
be at
the
local
community
level as
well as
on a
national
front.
The DMO
is at
the
forefront
of this
work.”
Moore
outlined
three
new
initiatives
that the
DMO will
be
focusing
on:
Building
a
Democratic
Future,
Investing
in
Tomorrow’s
National
Leadership,
and
Crafting
Solutions
for
America’s
Challenges:
“We
work to
build a
Democratic
future
by using
both new
and old
networking
methods
to link
local
Democrats;
forging
a
relationship
between
local
Democrats,
the DNC,
state
parties,
and
other
political
organization.
We
invest
in
tomorrow's
national
leadership
by
highlighting
the
accomplishments
of local
leaders,
and
training
Democrats
to win
and to
speak
effectively
to our
issues
and we
craft
solutions
for
America's
challenges
by
capitalizing
on
America's
cities
and
towns as
laboratories
for
policy
innovation;
promoting
our
members'
effective
policy
solutions;
Moore
also
noted,
“The DMO
recently
elected
Detroit
City
Council
Member
Scott
Benson
as our
National
President,
and so
it is
especially
rewarding
to see
the
business
community
in
Detroit
coming
out to
support
Scott's
leadership,
and to
lay the
groundwork
for our
2019
National
Board
retreat
which we
look
forward
to
hosting
in the
great
city of
Detroit.”
“I
am
thrilled
to
introduce
The
Diggs
Group to
DMO and
bring
them
onto the
DMO
National
Advisory
Board
Business
Council,
said
Benson.
“The
Diggs
Group is
developing
community
prioritized
housing
in
Detroit's
own
District
3 and
this is
a
testament
to their
commitment
to
growing
neighborhoods.
I wanted
them to
join
DMO's
Advisory
Board to
help
build
these
partnerships
nationwide.
Cities
succeed
when our
local
businesses
and
institutions
take an
active
role in
community
development.”
