Over 200 DPS students attend the 2012 PNC Grow Up Great/NAIAS Education Day

DETROIT (Tell Us Det) - The North American International Auto Show Education Day provided an educational experience for school groups of all ages to learn about the automotive industry. The PNC Foundation, which serves as the "Official Preschool Partner of NAIAS Education Day" hosted its “Grow Up Great” students, Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012

The young visitors enjoyed story time, pizza lunch and then lead onto the auto show floor at Cobo Center where they were overwhelmed by all the shiny new cars and trucks on display.

Roy Roberts, DPS Emergency Financial manager along with Ric DeVore, PNC regional president for Detroit and Southeast Michigan and Bill Perkins, chairman, North American International Auto Show all played host to the 225 DPS pre school children who attended

The event also featured DPS Emergency Manager Roy Roberts, Ric DeVore, PNC regional president for Detroit and Southeast Michigan, and Bill Perkins, chairman of the North American International Auto Show. PNC’s signature philanthropic initiative, “Grow Up Great,” is one of the most comprehensive early childhood education programs in the nation.

“Grow Up Great is an outstanding early childhood education program that has provided hundreds of DPS students with a foundation in science and the arts through stimulating and creative activities that allow them to explore the world around them,” Roberts said.

DeVore said, “Grow Up Great” is one of the most comprehensive early childhood education programs in the nation. Students of all ages will have the opportunity to learn about careers associated in the automotive industry, from engineering, automotive design and other career disciplines."

The eight “Grow Up Great” schools that participated in the North American International Auto Show Education Day were: Beard Elementary, Beckham Academy, Blackwell Institute, Burton International, Emerson Elementary-Middle, Fleming Early Childhood Center/Administration Building, Schulze Elementary-Middle, and Priest Elementary-Middle.
